Coverage Map
Superfast West Yorkshire aims to help improve broadband coverage across West Yorkshire and York – focusing on those areas which have either no or poor coverage. Many rural and remote areas have slow broadband because they were not deemed commercially viable by telecoms infrastructure providers.
Phase 1 of the project has just been completed. The infrastructure rollout has delivered superfast fibre broadband to over 64,500 premises across West Yorkshire, giving 97% coverage across the county.
Recently a new contract was signed to deliver a Phase 2 of the project which will extend the project to a further 28,000 homes and businesses across West Yorkshire and York. Phase 2 will also include the Kirklees area, which was not included in Phase 1.
Phase Two of the Superfast West Yorkshire programme will continue to rollout the digital infrastructure to both urban and rural parts of the city region. By the end of the two phases of the programme more than 100,000 premises within the programme area are expected to have access to fibre broadband.
Notes
